Tough Audience or not, there are still ways...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 57432

Sigin

First things first, we need to gain a little trust here and now. Most of this bunch might have believed in us enough to have vacated that strange magical building. Enough to even allow us to talk to their commanding officer: Decker.

However, these Redshirts hadn't enough time to decide whether or not to trust us enough yet to just beam out with us. Maybe they wanted to try to have a shuttlecraft come on down? Saw one of the female Redshirts suggest just that before Inquirer took that choice from them. Either that or perhaps they felt that maybe if their teleporter couldn't work with whatever interference the Planet Killer was putting out, then the same would be for OUR teleportation system?

Saw some of the men checking themselves quickly when they appeared here, as if to see if all their parts were where they should be. . .

Whatever the case . . .

Looks like a tough audience.... But I have seen (and dealt) with much worse, believe me. However, right now none of my friends (and myself included) wish to spend the entire night in argument over what had to be done.

Sigh, but while we should be attending to the Redshirt (for reasons I will get to here in a minute), I find what is of more concern to me are those "20th century" young female students who got swept along with us here! Not only do they look more than a little shaken up by the sudden turn of events but something tells me that all of them could well BE victims of strong transformation magicks that may have altered their minds (must talk with them and quickly here)! We need to find out as soon as feasible if we are to reverse that!! I at least KNOW the elves tell me (telepathically) at least half of the young girls here are Fred analogs! The Doppleganger reaction is telling (and thank GOD that it is not the "instant hate so fierce that one will sell one's soul to kill the other" kind). Of the four young women present: one of the as of yet unnamed identical twins with the classically patrician features and the young blonde woman I believe is called Hannah Fredrics-- are Fred analogs, but as of yet we have not had time to properly introduce ourselves.

However, first thing first: the Redshirts . . .

. . .

Pardon me as I roll my eyes at that last inane part, they being a possible obstacle. Know how rather . . . silly it sounds. Why not just cast a spell and be done with it and hang whatever objections the Redshirts have?

Yes, we COULD use magicks here. Just go and wave hands and chanting magical spells! That is a swift way to find out if there has been mind tampering. Would be easier than testing them by how the young women introduce themselves, EVEN if it will tell much.

. . .

Ah, but if you were wondering why we don't just do magic then here is the reason why: the Redshirts (again)!

Rather inconvenient turn of events, in a way. Yes, right now while not ready to go on a bezerk frenzy of phasor fire, they all are more than a bit . . . leery of us. Yes, we did rescue them but they are not sure as why. Not saying they are paranoid but you must admit for people who'd they'd just met we SURE know a LOT about what had befallen their ship and . . . . if they are good at their line of work (basically security), then a bit of caution and . . . distrust of others (until proven to be trustworthy) is called for, you see.

In their position, I would wonder just HOW we knew so much about the Killer. Perhaps we had a more nefarious purpose than we were letting on here? Myself, having lived the rather secretive double life I had lived (hiding how humanly "corrupted" I had become from the Council of Wyrm's approved lifestyle and all that) I still tend to harbor that kind of . . . reservations even after all this time on Terra Prime.

I trust my friends but . . . I'll reserve judgement before fully trusting . . .others when we first meet.

Live with it.

Still, these Redshirts . . .

Oh, not to say that we couldn't take these . . .bunch of Redshirts (or should I say "Redshirts" for the male members and "Redskirts" for the females?), but honestly we really don't want to resort to violence if we can avoid it.

Diplomacy before violence is always preferable, I usually find. More . . . civilized if nothing else. However, if we start throwing around magic spells (something they've never actually encountered before I shall wager) it will make them even MORE nervous (and less prone to respond to our explanations afterwards).

Bottom line, we don't need the headache so . . .

  1. First thing first, which is where B'Elanna (what with her having been in Star Fleet, even if in a round about fashion) comes in . . .and explains in simple terms what we had not had time before now to explain.
