Unfortunately the King's Guard were not so forgiving. Outside of town,
Jolyon appeared to the four in a poof of magic. It was quickly established
that the Guard had broken into the wizardly abode a few minutes after the
group had left. A fortunate blow had subdued the master of the house and a
defeault spell sent Jolyon to 'Nearest allies'.
The entire group was very confused as to why the Guard would react so
intensely to the theft of a king's deer. After all, the boy had done it to
feed his family, back before the local wizard had unlocked his potential.

Exotica, being the king's daughter, shed some light on the situation. She broke down as several clues, from her private life, finally came together. Her dad was not sane.

Jolyon described -where- the deer had perished. Exotica gaped in horror. He had killed in the Forest Of Light, where the balance of nature was at it's most delicate. Ripples of subtle madness were sure to keep continuing.

Despite much discussion as they fled for Fred's home, nobody could figure out a damned thing.

Jolyon cast 'Expose Knowledge' and luck was on his side. A Captain of the Guard hated his Wizardly Master for...some confusing reason and had used the deer as an excuse for arrest.
