The guard was clearly in a very bad way. But his attacker, a black-robed cultist, had faired even worse, lying dead a short distance up the corridor. There was no sign of Lee. "What happened?" Stacy asked the guard, as she bent over to try to administer first aid.

But it was too late for first aid, or for her to get an answer to her question. The guard gave a gurgle, and then ceased breathing. From the massive amount of blood that he had lost, Stacy knew that any attempt to revive him would be a waste of time.

  1. She took his gun, which was still lying on the floor where he had dropped it. Then, afraid but determined, she headed on up the corridor.
  2. Then another armed cultist came round the corner, presumably also having heard the shots.
  3. Just then, Lee came round the corner, looking somewhat the worse for wear.
