William, It Was Really Nothing

William and Rubia have grown up and moved out.

Fred has been a widower for the past three years. Reportedly, the trauma of losing his wife and lover was so great that Fred has blocked out all memories of his deceased spouse.

One day, bored, Fred opens the door to the hall closet. Somehow, the hat he removed from William's head in anger was still lying in the corner. Ten years' worth of dust and grime had settled on it.

Somehow, Fred is compelled to get down on his knees, reach deep into his closet, and retrieve the hat. After shaking the dust from it, Fred dons the hat. It's too small for his head, actually, but Fred just can't bring himself to correct this.
