"I agree," Astra replied. "If humanity is extinct, apart from us, then I wonder who built it?"

"It could be that it's so old that it antedates that war that God spoke of. It doesn't look all that old, but if it's protected by magic then that's not conclusive."

As they spoke, they were drawing closer to the tower. The closer they got, the more impressive it seemed. It had a jet-black, shiny exterior, with no obvious cracks in it to indicate where one block of stone ended and another began.

1. They found an entrance.
2. There was no sign of an entrance.
