Being unarmed, Fred picked up the only thing that seemed to be directly at
hand - the head of the now-dead mage. Josh in his psychosis ignored Fred
completely as he looked around the room for more dogs to behead, so was
unprepared for the sudden attack. Fred's judgement was rather off, as the head of a terrier was not exactly the best object to brain a knight with, especially one as crazed as Sir Josh. Josh swung his sword wildly in Fred's direction, and Fred was able to dodge out of the way - just. The tip of the blade missed him by mere inches. Since he was technically Josh's superior, he tried ordering Josh to stand down in as commanding a tone as he could manage. Unfortunately Josh was too far gone to recognise it. Fred almost ended up getting a blade between his ribs. So Fred came up with a last, desperate scheme. The chamber they were in was huge, even the quietest noise echoed repeatedly. So Fred barked, like a dog, as loudly as possible. The sound echoed all over the place, and as Fred had hoped, Josh was whirling around trying to find where the sound was coming from, not considering him for an instant. In an almost suicidal move, he tackled the knight and managed to knock him to the ground. From Fred's own experience the armour they wore was extremely heavy. Most knights couldn't get back up without assistance. Josh it seemed was no exception to this.
