Mayor August Deliah was still the roughest and toughest dress maker in
town. In fact, her first order of business as mayor was to reduce the
taxes previously imposed on farmers of fibers, loomers and weavers,
seamstresses and tailors. Indeed, Mayor August Deliah received a standing
ovation from that quarter of town. But not long after troubles began to
come. The local miller lost his establishment in a game of dice, then the
local shepherd lost half his flock after losing a bet, the last straw for
the Mayor was when the local needle-maker (a midget by the name of Point
who worked side by side with the blacksmith Tackle) lost his license in an
arm-wrestling contest.
"This has got to stop," said August. "I’ll get the guard to investigate our new neighbors." She selected the slyest and keenest of her guards: Hewlett and Vark. They soon discovered that these new inhabitants of KeyStone Towneship were nothing more than upright businessmen who hailed from Gala. Yet still August Deliah had her doubts. Meanwhile, back in the Turtle Spit Tavern the foursome of bar-hopping demons continued their talk. "We have had a good beginning," said Paul. "Yes," agreed Ringo, "the mill will be a great place to center our operations." "And the sheep taste great!" added George. Only John said nothing, he only stared out into empty space. The barwench brought another round of mead and wine and smiled as they tipped her very handsomely, even as they continued their diabolical talk all she could hear from the magically altered group was: great alcohol! bring it on!! nice skirt!!!
