"I don't suppose that I have much choice," Stacy said rather ungraciously
in response to the Baron's invitation.
"You have every choice. Although admittedly your alternative, to strike out on your own, naked and unarmed, doesn't seem to me like an awfully good idea. Especially if I'm right in assuming that you've had another of your amnesia attacks, and so have no idea of how to find your way out of the sewers." He started off down the tunnel at a good pace, forcing Stacy almost to run in order to keep up with him, what was left of her ankle chains emitting an occasional clank when they impacted against the tunnel floor. "Yes, I do have amnesia," she admitted. "But that doesn't explain everything. Not very much, in fact. Like, why did I get knocked out above ground in New York, but come to in the sewers of New Amsterdam, a placename that hasn't existed other than in works of fiction for several hundred years? How can a writer in New York called Stephen Allar be writing stories about Mistake and Baron von Allar set in New Amsterdam? But most of all, how can I be Stacy Jones there but this Mistake character here? And find myself with breasts that are about two cup sizes bigger!" As she spoke, she found herself giving vent to the frustration that she was feeling, so that by the time she finished she was almost shouting.
