Belboz Wakes

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 55961

Fred realised that when he started to tie up Belboz the necromancer was likely to stir. So he would have to be quick. "Should I gag him first or tie him up first?" he whispered.

"Tie him up first," one of the girls whispered back. (Fred wasn't sure which one. He was still having trouble getting them straight in his mind.) She continued: "Most of his spells seem to involve gestures."

So Fred removed the rope from his pack and bent over to tie up Belboz. As soon as the rope touched the necromancer, he awoke. But he was naturally rather disoriented at first, even more so since he still hadn't totally sobered up.

"Wuh? Hey!" he said, starting to struggle as Fred attempted to tie his arms together.

"Quick!" Fred called. "The gag! He mustn't get off a spell."

Astra hurried forward with the piece of cloth that Fred had previously torn from his clothing. But before she could stuff it in his mouth, Belboz managed to cast a spell. Fortunately for Fred and the girls, in his befuddled condition he made a mistake and didn't manage to cast the paralysis spell that he had intended correctly.

  1. The miscast spell was non-directional, and so affected everyone in the chamber apart from Belboz.
  2. The miscast spell was directional. It hit Astra as she was bending over him.
  3. The miscast spell was directional. It whizzed by Astra and harmlessly down the passage. Before he could try anything else, she had slugged him on the jaw and rendered him unconscious.
  4. The miscast spell was directional. It whizzed past Astra and hit Fred.
  5. The miscast spell was directional. It whizzed by Astra, ricocheted off the wall behind her and hit two of the girls.
