Soon though, everyone stopped pointing and laughing at Fred because of his puppy fat. They didn't stop pointing and laughing at Fred, they just stopped pointing and laughing at Fred because of his puppy fat.

Now they were pointing and laughing at Fred because he was crying.

Fred cried because everyone was pointing and laughing at him.

1. everyone continues to point and laugh at Fred because he is crying
2. everyone continues to point and laugh at Fred, but for a new reason
3. everyone starts crying
4. REM show up and perform "Everybody Hurts"
