The rock floor is hard, and Sir Josh has all the breath knocked out of
him. Looking up at the naked young woman (he doesn't yet know that she is
a princess), he sees that she is about six feet tall, athletic yet very
beautiful, with long red hair.
He scrambles to his feet. "Why did you do that?" he asks. "And who are you?" "See that skeleton? That, or something similar, would have been your fate if you had written anything on one of the pillars. These aren't the true Pillars of Reality, but the cursed duplicates known as the Pillars of Unreality. Whoever writes on them has their wish turned against them." "How do you know that?" "Look more closely at the skeleton." Sir Josh does so. "All the bones below each knee are missing." "Yes. My guess is that he was made shorter by having both his legs amputated at the knee. The poor fellow must have bled to death." "Ugh! Then I owe you my thanks. But you still haven't told me who you are, what you are doing here, or why you are naked. I myself am Sir Josh, here on a quest to kill the dragon." "I am Princess Astra of Aqualaria, until recently held prisoner by the dragon but now escaped...
