Unable to resist his curiosity, Fred unlocked the door and then went along the passage that was revealed behind it. At the far end, he was surprised to find a suite of large and opulently furnished chambers carved out of the rock. But that was nothing compared with his astonishment on finding that the occupants were eight very attractive and totally naked young women.

"A man!" one of them exclaimed. She grabbed a heavy candlestick and rushed at Fred, apparently intending to brain him with it.

Two of the others dashed to intercept her. "No, Miranda!" one of them admonished her. She struggled for a moment in their grasp, but then seemed to relax.

"Sorry about that," one of the women holding her, a tall redhead, said. "I'm afraid that Miranda is a bit psycho. To give her her formal title, she's Princess Miranda of Gana. I'm Princess Astra of Aqualaria, but please just call me Astra. Over there are my younger sisters, Belinda and Carola. Then there's Princess Maria of Hespan, Princess Sophie of Gala, and Princess Helena and her sister Isabelle from one of the Western Kingdoms."

"Goodness! Eight princesses! I am Lord Frederigo D'Honaire, from Suffex in Allaria. I'm honoured to meet you all. But what could Belboz possibly want with eight princesses?"

1. "Well, it's like this..."
2. "I'll tell you later. But first, can you help us to escape?"
