Beyond the State of the Arte

Freda is cured (mentally, that is), but Xyllis has not been so fortunate.

I happen to catch the tail end of it, what befalls Xyllis, and while in SOME fashion one could say 'tis only justice . . .

. . .

In quiet another way it turns my stomach.

What has befallen Xyllis is this: the curses (plural) that had been used upon this "Fred" to become "Freda" (the physical transformation that Dr. Vincent's "friend" did AND the mental "adjustments" that Xyllis administered) have struck HER. First, I later am told, the mental adjustments had raced through Xyllis' mind (making her mentally to order for her . . . new calling), finally finishing off . . .

"Sometimes one should watch what they say when 'higher powers' are involved," Dr. Vincent says softly as the others look a bit disgusted that there are now THREE identical looking young women (all scantily clad) in the room.

Only in Xyllis case, I fear that her 'gods' (or whatever you'd wish to call the entities that fill that position in the aether beyond the mortal planes of her reality) will not allow a reprieve from what has been done to her in mind and body. Well beyond the state of the Arte that even dragons (maybe even Atlantis dwellers from what I am told) can undo!

Inquirer curses under her breath as both Freda and Astra stare at the newest bawdy girl (who's looking MY way hungrily).

Uh, do hope you do not mind me keeping my distance, old chap! Mustn't upset my mate . . . er. . . .wife with an easily avoidable . . . "misunderstanding". Fear that Mina might literally snap this bawdy girl's head off if she makes a wrong move my way. Hadn't reacted too well when Freda did . . . her . . .

Hrmph. Right. I am just saying why make a bad (and TENSE) situation worse if it can be avoided, eh? Bad enough to have what has happened to the former sorceress, but needlessly rouse Mina that way with those advances (frankly unwanted advances towards ME by this newest bawdy girl)!?

Good Lord, she's not even my type (much less my species now)!
