Fred goes to see a shrink

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 52672

Since Fred has trouble with spelling 'psychiatric', just like the author, he goes to see a shrink. That's what the bulletin board advertised. "Head Shrink! For all your mental problems! Only five gold pieces!"
Fred slays a squirrel for the money. For like all wild animals, squirrels turned into gold when killed.
Fred found himself streched out on a bumpy, cold, leather sofa. To his right were several chairs arranged around a small table and a tea set. The chair and the tea pieces were all different shades of blue. A small set of curtains covered a small window. To the right was another table, a box of fruit and a large wall. Every inch of the wall was covered in portraits of animals of all sorts. Most of the animals were jumping about.
Behind Fred's head sat a small, bald man. He was older then Fred but in much better safe, with muscles showing through where Fred did not know people had muscles. He was writing in a extraordinarily large notebook as Fred talked.
"I don't know what's going on, Bill." said Fred. "I...just acted with so much rage at the adults doing what they were doing. So what if they draw pictures of half-humans? Who gives a doodle? As long as they aren't forcing it on children, what's the harm?"
"I see." said Bill. "But what was this about the adults you saw acting negatively to their own handiwork?"
"I don't know. Maybe I was projecting my prejudices onto them. Maybe it was all the magic I was blasting around. Maybe it was because I was waving my sword around like some sort of crazy person."
"I see." Bill said again.

  1. Fred continues.
  2. Fred makes an embarassing bodily noise.
  3. Bill challenges Fred to a fistfight.
  4. Fred's time is up.
  5. Fred makes a break-thru.
  6. Unfortunately, Bill is prejudiced against the fans of half-animal people.
  7. Fred realizes he is still a half-fox and has a nervous breakdown. It involves crying softly and singing church hymns even softer.
