The Never Ending Quest - Episode 5267

Fred stumbled back to the bed, the only thing in the room apart from him. The mechanical arms had disappeared, but the fluid they had injected into him seemed to still be working. He couldn't stop chuckling inanely to himself. "Hey," he tried calling out, and discovered that his voice had risen dramatically in pitch. Despite this, and despite the fact that he was still giggling for no reason, he was determined to get his message out. "Where am I and what have you done to me and why? Also fix me right now."

Predictably, there was no response. He sat there for a long while, trying to get his laughter under control, but it seemed to be a waste of time. He tried to think through the situation. Somehow, those berries had zapped him here, he'd chosen a button, and he'd been changed. But why? Hmm... If a button had changed him, something equally electronic ought to be available somewhere to undo it. He started feeling around the walls, as if in fact there was a button in here, it was too dim to see it.

  1. Sure enough, eventually his fingers found a button, and he pressed it without hesitation.
  2. He searched all the walls, but found nothing, and collapsed on the floor, still laughing. Soon a team of men in simple uniforms came in to carry him through the door that had appeared.
