They followed the janitor through a door, along a corridor and into another room which was lined with shelves. On the shelves were many large box-files, each one labelled in fading ink.

"This is the obvious place to start," the janitor said, taking one of the box-files from its shelf. It was labelled:

1. "Conan the Barbarian." "This was the very first Conan book," the janitor told them.
2. "Conan the Hairdresser," Surely some mistake?
3. "Princess Astra and the Funny Costume." "This Robert E Howard wrote about me?" Astra asked. "Not that I know of," Betty said. "What is going on here?"
