The drinking man

As our hero made his way along the road he made every effort to avoid being observed in his current state of dress. It wasn't easy as the shoes were not something he had worn before and he had a few tumbles.

After tripping yet again Fred looked up and was stunned and embarrassed to see a man stumbling along towards him. Fred hurried to his feet, but did not have the time to take cover from the man's gaze.

"Are you all right miss?" the man asked. Then staring harder at Fred he began to look very confused and stared at the almost empty bottle in his hand and tossed it away into the bushes."

"Excuse me" the man continued "I hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you dressed like that?"

By now Fred's face had blushed the brightest red and our hero replied . . .

1. "This is how I like to dress"
2. "I don't know, I woke up like this"
3. "Shut up and leave me alone"
