The game continued to be of a very high standard. Fred needed only a
further 61 to
go out. He planned on 20, 5 and then to finish with double 18, to avoid
having to shift his
aim too far between darts. First it was Velus's turn, though. At the start
of his turn,
Velus needed 161. Not quite do-able in three darts. He wanted to get 121
if possible,
to leave a double top to finish. Treble twenty, treble twenty, one would
be a good way
od doing that. He reflected ruefully on his loss of the toss to go
first. That gave Fred a big advantage in a game of as high a standard as
this.
He began with a treble twenty, but then only a single twenty. 81 more needed. He tried for treble 19, to leave him with double 12 to get on his next turn (assuming he got another turn).
