Anne explained to Fred that Astra's strange outburst was almost certainly
caused by a combination of the stress of the wedding and the blow to the
head. "Just give her a bit of space for an hour or two so that she can
straighten herself out," she advised him. "I'm sure she'll be back before
long. Meanwhile we have our guests to see to. We mustn't neglect them."
"I suppose that you're right," Fred said. "But I can't help being worried about her." Outside the church, a passer-by was surprised when a very attractive redhead wearing a wedding dress emerged from the building and hailed him. "Excuse me, but can you give me directions to 27, Smith Street?" "Hmm, there's no Smith Street in this town that I know of. There's a largish village about four miles up the road in that direction." He pointed. "Perhaps the address that you're looking for is there." "Thank you," Astra replied. She set off up the dirt road, being careful to avoid the ruts that cart wheels had left. The silk slippers that she was wearing weren't very suitable for serious walking, but she would have to make the best of it.
