Pushing up the sleeve of her robe, Astra saw that the glyphs were still
present on her arm. Seeing them, she knew that the first thing that she
must do was find out the phase of the moon. If it was nearly full, then
she dare not stay in the hospital. The medical staff had treated her
conventional ills successfully, but she was sure that there would be
nothing that they could do about her lycanthropy. No doubt they had not
recognised her glyphs for what they were, and did not appreciate the
danger that they and the patients were in.
She looked to the left, where the main aisle through the centre of the ward ran. Women whom she assumed from their uniforms must be nurses were dashing to and fro. She hailed one: "Excuse me!" The nurse came over. "Good, you're awake," she said. "We were a bit worried about you when you came in." "Where is this, exactly? I would have thought that the nearest hospital must be a long way from the Shreken." "Several leagues, yes. You were lucky. A farmer who was grazing his sheep high up in the foothills found you, and he brought you here in the back of a wagon as quickly as he could. To answer your question, this town is called Fraserburgh." "This may sound like a strange question, but you wouldn't happen to know when the next full moon is due?"
