Eventually they released each other from the embrace and, holding hands, took a long walk around the island. "I'm going to get my weight down," Astra told Fred. "I'll watch what I eat and do lots of exercise."

"Why bother? I love you just the way you are."

"You're very sweet, Fred. But I'm used to being fit. I don't want to stay like this."

A year passed. The three were still trapped on the island. Fred and Astra were still centaurs.

1. Astra had managed to slim down dramatically.
2. Astra was as fat as ever. It seemed that the obesity was part of her curse.
3. Astra was by now heavily pregnant with Fred's child.
4. Then a passing ship rescued them.
5. The curse lasted for the traditional timespan of a year and a day. Then Fred and Astra reverted to normal.
