Fear the Chickens

Fred knocked on his door and then opened it up without waiting for a reply. He found the troll sitting pensively on the edge of his bed. "Ug, we've got to talk," Fred told him as he strode into the room.

The troll looked up and replied, "My name's Steve now Fred. Steve. Not Ug."

Fred smiled condescendingly at him and answered, "No Ug. Steve is the name of our pig. Your name is Ug. I wish you wouldn't get that confused so much."

Ug sighed deeply. He was obviously not feeling very happy. The fact that his name wasn't really Steve only made things even worse. "Now then, you've got to tell me what's the matter," Fred continued, "You've been moody for over a week now. You spend more and more time holed up in your room. You don't talk anymore, or share in our communal dance of the Macarena. And it's starting to really tick me off. Now something's obviously bothering you - tell me what it is."

Ug looked up at Fred and then glanced over to the window, as if he were making sure he wasn't being watched. And then he motioned for Fred to come closer and in a barely audible whisper Ug said, "The chickens want to kill me."

Fred was speechless. But just for a moment. And then he replied, "Chickens don't kill people, Ug. Or kill trolls for that matter. They can't. They're chickens. But you do have a problem." And upon saying that, Fred slapped Ug's hand, sending the mug of hot, steaming coffee the troll was holding splashing out onto the floor. "Lay off of the coffee, Ug. It's messing with your head."

Later that day though, after Fred had gone to look in on the chickens...

1. There is a horrifying scream and Fred is found ripped to shreds. Next up - CSI:Allaria!
2. Ug follows him and discovers that Fred is conspiring with the chickens.
