Mina "In that case I've nothing to lose. I'll drink the healing draught." I say, firming my resolve. Quiet honestly, I DO rather wish to be free of . . .certain reminders of events I do not wish to discuss, even with new friends. Even with new friends who know (unlike those who are in my charge with the League) . . . . . . It is something I do not wish to discuss (or remember). . . . "Mina, a few last things before I leave you to this business," Inquirer says softly, reaching over and placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. . . . Hm, it is rather strange (to use the usual British style of understatement) that we have come to this, me allowing her the . . . .privilege of my nickname. Only to my friends am I "Mina", and considering the rather . . . . Shall we say rough start (re: 49476) I, she and her group had I find it more than a bit ironic how things changed. Still, I must say I rather like the tentative friendship I have with this rather . . .energetic and strong willed woman. Her and her friends…. "Whether or not the scars heals and I and my friends must take stronger measures to try to fix Dracula's handiwork . . . .," she continues, pausing slightly seeing me wince a little bit at mention of . . .that name. "I would suggest you keep wearing that scarf, if only for a while longer. If only to maintain your privacy and not lead to awkward questions and mistaken assumptions, you understand." . . . "P-pardon?" I blink, not following. "Mina," she smiles slightly. "The men aren't exactly stupid. Given everything that unfortunately came to light thus far they might start asking some rather awkward questions if you come out of here, scarf free. . ." She points out that the sudden lack of scarf would point towards something having changed and THAT might lead to questions I would rather not have to answer (or have asked, truth be told). As for assumptions, depending on how much (or little) I answer those questions... She goes on pointing out that possibly that while they might not come upon the truth of the nature of . . .of Dracula. . . . Oh why must I? . . . Curse me for being so weak as to still tremble at His name! Only because Inquirer and her friends already know ABOUT that business am I willing to . . .discuss it even as little as I have, thus far. ‘Tis the only reason why I have allowed it to . . . And thankfully, they had known so as to offer this healing draught . . . Hm, maybe I will be able to at least begin to "move on" from that . . .frightening night after this? Shan't say I am against that. Well, as for the assumptions that some members (like Allan) might make could lead to some...regretful actions. Actions that given the character of some are within the realm of possibility... Well, anyway, I must admit being taken aback somewhat about the possible mistaken assumptions that the men of the League might jump to, shall we say! If they realize that I might have been hid scars beneath (unlikely but given the timing between the known drinking of healing draughts of Allan might lead to . . .unwanted connections with me and my need) they might jump to rather . . .bemusing mistaken conclusions as to who is responsible! Nothing in society's scandal whispered around that . . .unfortunate night spoke of physical harm done me by Him. Ravishing against my will, yes. Harm, no. . . . Not exactly . . .a very unlikely conclusion to draw, actually. What with it having been public knowledge that He had died in the altercation afterwards (if not exactly the circumstances). Not like my . . .affliction was public knowledge, thus Allan and the others thinking that . . . What Allan might do . . . I actually am not sure. He . . . he always did seem the type to . . .not take such things lightly . . . But . . .Jonathan marking me? I mean . . .while polite society doesn't mention his adultary (which they think I drove him to) . . .nor other things I rather wouldn't like to mention right now (Oh, it stil hurts to think how the relationship died even after Van Helsing and Jonathan saved me from Him)... "Right now I believe that at least Allan is beginning to believe the truth in as far as . . . What had lead up to divorce not laying at your feet, Mina." Inquirer finishes. "He IS rather taken with you and . . ." "What?" I blink, startled. Surely that can't be because it is perfectly clear that he despises me and . . . "Mina, besides some rather . . .," she sighs and begins again. "Why in the Creator's name would he tell you about his hair problems?" "Well, I'm the leader of this menagerie of course!" I protest. "He should tell me things like that, should he not!" "Perhaps," Inquirer chuckles slightly. "But from what Sigin tells me about of what he said and acted while discussing you with Dr. Jekyll on the way to that opium den led him and me to believe otherwise." "Er . . .right," I sputter. "He is beginning to see that it was Jonathan who . . .!" she continues on, only to stop in mid-sentence and . . She then stops and whirls, cape and hood flowing out around her like wings as she pulls and draws something forth (somewhere upon her body). . . . My God, she's armed with . . . Some kind of pistol! A small one hidden somewhere within those trousers (on a woman?! What kind of world allows . . .). Uh, that pistol is with some kind of hellish red light beaming out of it and alighting . . . A shelve of books near the open doorway.
