Again Fred hears the spectral voice, but this time it is coming from inside his head. "Menifee, the Troll, is your enemy", it says. "You must kill him before he has a chance to betray you. To do otherwise would be a grave risk to you and the success of your quest." At first, you consider the voice to be nothing more than a manifestation of your own intuitive subconscious, or a mischievous spirit trying to direct your actions with its evil counsel. But how can you be sure that it, whatever it is, is not speaking the truth? After all, you and the Troll are strangers, and these creatures have a reputation for violence and selfishness. How can you be sure that he won't turn on you at some crucial point in your quest and undo all that you had achieved? You must make a decision.
