Before Josh and Fred the Bear can react, they are caught up in ribbons of
paper, leather, and trappings of magical powers set forth from the wand.
Their arms and legs begin melding into the flatness of leather-bound book
covers, torsos into pages, heads shrinking and elongating into flat, silky
book markers. The transformation continues, words apearing on the pages,
detailing their lives until this point, ending with the spine labels
indicating the twin volume set they have become. The books float over to
the shelves, placing themselves neatly between Diary of a Mad Thief
and The Perilous Plights of Pendelton the Paladin.
Her duties fulfilled, the librarian hangs her "Out to Lunch" sign and settles down for a short visit to the pages of Biggles, Master Chef.
