Exasperated Exotica

"Surely you aren't frightened?" Exotica asked. "It's only water, and no more than a couple of feet deep."

"No, of course I'm not frightened." But he made no move to enter the water.

"Oh for goodness sake!" Exotica said. She boldly went forward into the pool.

1. She emerged on the far side with no apparent ill effects. A little sheepishly, both Freds followed her across.
2. She was transformed.
3. The water was much deeper than it had appeared, and she was forced to swim.
