Fred's face fell. Apparently darts was not his favourite game. But then he
brightened
again. "Where are we going to find a set of darts
and a dartboard down here?" he asked. "I saw a dartboard back at the
Wizard of Kamiro's,
when he changed me back," said Velus. "We must return there." So, though
Fred was
reluctant, they did so.
The wizard welcomed them, and was happy to learn that the dragon was dead. He provided some more clothes for Astra, saying that he hoped they would last a bit longer this time. Then he hung up the dartboard and the game commenced, with the wizard acting as referee to forestall any attempts at sharp practice. Astra hoped that Velus would win. Though Velus was only a commoner, she hadn't liked the new side of himself that Fred had revealed when she had suggested the duel. And anyway Velus was a fine strapping lad. Fred and Velus agreed to play a single game of "301", finishing on a double. Fred won the toss to go first. His three darts scored as follows:
