As soon as Lord Fred had spelled this cryptic message in gold coins (taking
great care to include the A one) he became aware of a light nearby. He
looked up and saw a couple of sailors hauling on a rope. Or rather, they
seemed to be posing for a third man standing behind some kind of contraption.
Moving closer, Fred noticed the man was wearing a beret and a white coat full of paint stains. He was holding a palette and a brush which he kept applying to the other side of what Fred now saw was a large canvas on a frame propped up on far too small easel. Fred had always had an interest in fine art, at least he knew an artist when he saw one, so he strolled over to take a closer look at what the whitecoat was painting. As he had anticipated, it was a picture of the two sailors, but the background was a ship on a storm tossed sea.
