Astra's mind was a'whirl with thoughts and confusions. Could this Beast
be telling the truth? She had never been told before that it could see
into the future. And even if it did, why would it want to protect
her? Should she believe it? How could she?
Astra was walking now, hurriedly up the paths that had brought her down to the Dragon. Should she leave these caves, return to her people and warn them of the dire words of the DragonMage? Should she find that Allarian knight, return to the Beast and slay it? She looked upon her nude form, she ground her teeth at the fact she was weaponless. She came to a decision. The Beast had bested her, she would leave it for now. She would return to her people, tell them of its words - they would prepare as the Queen decided. And one day she would return to these Northern Caves, find the Beast and kill it. Astra ran for hours before she found the tunnel that led to the outside, to a slope on the southern side of the cursed mountains. She stepped out onto the slope and breathed in the fresh air. Then she felt great pain in her chest. Looking down upon her bare breasts she saw an axe handle sticking out of her golden flesh. "That's not right..." she thought, and then she died. Astra had been so intent on the pain, the axe handle, and the spreading red blotch upon her flesh, that she did not notice the stranger standing to her left upon the slope. The assassin dislodged the axe from Astra's corpse, wiped its blade on some dead grass and then stepped into a sphere of white light.
