A Spell Miscast

However as the spell took hold, they heard Vincent shout something incoherent. Instinctively, they reached out and took hold of each other, just before there was another burst of dazzling lights. A loud POP rang in their ears and the world seemed to spin.

For a moment, the two of them stood to let their heads clear. They were still too dazzled to see everything properly, but it was obvious that wherever they were had not made it back to Vincent's place.

"Vincent?" Fred called softly. "Dr. Vincent, are you there?"

"I don't think he made it here with us," Astra said. "Wherever here is."

"For being such a supposedly powerful mage," Fred observed, "He sure has a lot of problems casting spells. I wonder how - oh! Oh, no!"

"What?"

"Astra, I - I know where we are!"

A moment later, Astra's vision fully cleared, and she too knew where they had wound up:

1. They were back in the cave where they had originally defeated Velus the Hellhound/Dragon!
2. They were the foyer of Mistress Candida's Bawdy House
3. They were on the terrace of the Garden of Lord Rudolf.
4. They were in the famed Council Chamber of the Aquilarian Matriarchy.
5. They were in the famed Throne Room of the King of Allaria.
6. They were in the workshop of Pronklezilch! But how did they know that when they'd never been there before?
