A Question of Faith

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 47901

Gur Rathka:

"Why, she is Princess Talia of Iskandr," I reply, a little surprised that they had not already known her name. "She has amnesia, you say? Is it serious?"

"It depends on what you mean by serious," the one they call Joan chips in. "She seems to be close enough to human that I can be fairly confident that the tricorder is correct when it tells me that her brain is free of any damage or illness. Yet she tells us that she has no personal memories at all from before a day or two ago. It's very strange. Whether her memory will return, I'm afraid I can't say."

I am not too sure what the woman means by "human" or "tricorder", but I think that I understand what she is telling me, in spite of my residual headache. What she has said is rather worrying, but at least the Princess is free now and seems to be well.

Our rescuers ask me how far and in which direction Iskandr lies, something that the Princess hasn't been able to tell them because of her amnesia. Because we lack a common unit of distance this takes a little time. Eventually I have to give the distance in terms of a fraction of the planet's circumference.

Artizza:

I'd hoped that we would be able to return them home by carpet before asking them if we could have the jewel. Having freed them and brought them home would seem like a fair exchange for the gem. But it turns out to be rather a long way to Iskandr, too far for the carpets really. It looks like we will have take them back to our ship, ask them if we can have the jewel to get it operational, and only then fly them home.

  1. I hope that they will trust us enough to believe us when we promise that we will take them home.
