Cursing the darkness in these caverns, Amy tried to find something to grab
on to and slow her fall - but the walls of the shaft were totally smooth.
Fortunately for her, she fell in water.
Amy swam to the surface and saw the water belonged to an underground lake -
in a cave that was so large she couldn't even see its walls. Having more
than her fair share of bad experience, she quickly made her way for solid
ground before being grabbed by some monster in the lake.
The relief she felt when she finally managed to get out of the water was
quickly overcome by a feeling of cold. She could hardly bear standing in
such a cold place, all wet, and she didn't have a towel to dry herself.
Now she didn't mind putting on some weight in the bears' cottage, as more
fat kept her at least a bit warmer.
After a few minutes of running around to get warm and twisting her clothes
dry, she started looking around for a way to move on. She soon found a
narrow corridor cut into the solid stone of the cave's wall. It wasn't
dark - in fact, there were lit torches in brackets along its walls. She
took a torch, thinking it could be useful to avoid falling into another
shaft.
But should she try and risk taking this way? The lit torches meant someone
was definitely using the corridor, and they might be hostile. After giving
