The Mystic Llama in the Divided City

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 4763

Fred walked up to the lobby of the Mystic Llama. A little man with close-cropped blond hair, wearing a russet-coloured shirt and breeches, was grabbing some pewter plates and mugs on a table. The man held up his finger in a gesture of "wait one minute," and handed the plates to a stout, cheery woman in the same russet-colour behind the bar of the tavern. Fred had noticed that there were a few customers in fine silk robes conversing over the remains of dinner or bottles of beer. The place was clean, with towering windows on one wall giving a grand view of the city. An elegant tapestry on the wall depicted an idealized drawing of two enchanters, a man and a woman, against the background of a paradisical world of lush orchards, gentle rivers, and strong livestock. Fred instinctively knew that this place was going to be expensive, but might it might be worth it if he could gather information about the "wild side" of town.

"May I help you, good man? I am one of the servants of the Mystic Llama, the finest lodging place and tavern in the city." The man gave Fred a look, as if he was questioning whether he could afford his establishment.

"How much?"

"Five gold pieces a night, including a small breakfast, but not including drinks and dinner. Of course, if that is a little steep for your purse, I can recommend the Singing Bobwhite, three blocks to the east. Their rooms are spartan, but they are trustworthy and serve good meals."

  1. The five gold pieces is worth the chance to eavesdrop on the richest mages in the Vjorica.
  2. Five gold pieces is too expensive. Fred thanks the man and heads for the Singing Bobwhite.
