The Approaching Caravan

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 4743

Astra stood defiantly by Fred as the caravan of forty camels and twenty camel-pulled wagons creakily stopped near them. A party of three men, one only three feet tall, approached them. They were swathed in white robes with few but well-crafted bits of jewlery. Gallantly, they kept their eyes above the neck region.

"Greetings, lost people." said the small man in an unfamilar accent. "We saw how you were without transportation and the law of the desert, plus our own morals, compel us to..." a pause, as if he was searching for the right word. "Offer you a ride."
"Your offer is kind and generous." said Fred. "But may I ask in which direction you are traveling? We wish to go south to familar lands and people."
"South?" the man's expression fell. "No, oh no grateful people. We go North."
Astra looked at Fred. They both had the same thought. No one knew what was North of the Calamari desert. There were rumors of a religion where they honored a man who died on a cross. There were also rumors of cannibalism, portals to ancient lands and rotting carcasses that drawfed the largest castle.

What do our heroes do now?

  1. They go with the caravan. They could cross the desert later.
  2. They decline, but show the men better ways to carry supplies (new ways of tying ropes, better ways of storing items, etc.) in exchange for clothing, food and water.
  3. They decline, but go with the men anyway. (Uh oh).
