Fred, seeing the ship, quickly ducks into a copse of trees and watched the
pirates as they step off the ship. He knows these men; they're a group of
pirates that's been raiding some of the kingdom's coastal cities in the
last few years. They pride themselves on being "gentlemen" pirates; they
never harm women or chldren, and they only steal from the rich and the
powerful (though they have no problem with killing the innocent or even the
poor). They claim to be freedom fighters rather than just ruffians, but
Fred has his doubts.
It seems odd that Fred would somehow appear on an isolated tropical island at the same time as a group of pirates from his own country... unless it's not a coincidence. Could it be that they found him after he nearly drowned, captured him, and took him here? It's the only explanation Fred can think of, other than some sort of magic. Fred considers confronting the pirates. Though he knows them, as far as he knows they don't know him. He might be able to pass as a shipwrecked sailor, especially if he removes his armor. Perhaps they can tell him where he is, or provide him with a way home. Though ruffians, they do pride themselves on their "honor." On the other hand, if they do recognize him, or if they did take him here, for whatever reason, it might be dangerous for him to reveal himself. Perhaps he should stay where he is for now, or go deeper into the jungle.
