Before Fred and Velus' unbelieving eyes, a part of the wall burst open and
a river of lava spurted down the stairs at an amazing velocity. Thinking
fast, Fred snatched Velus and hopped into the tunnel. Arcane energies
fwooshed the two to safety, although in a rather flailing,
spinning, nauseating fashion. After a while the tunnel whipped around
sharply, and Fred and Velus were unceremoniously dumped on the floor.
Fred's ego was not the only thing bruised that day. They were in a hot and humid chamber, lit up by an astounding sight. The skeletal remains of a human sat in the center of the room. The robes on the corpse were remarkably well preserved, and an ornate wand was clasped in it's bony hand. An open book lay in it's lap. Above the skeleton hovered a multifaceted gem, sparkling with a dazzling range of bright blue shades which lit up the room. "Looks like we've found the creator of this odd means of egress. I guess we owe him our lives." Fred said, and Velus barked in agreement. "We had better use caution." Fred advised. "Who knows what kind of person this was, or what manner of sorcery we're facing."
