The Ruined City

The city to which you have been brought must once have been as beautiful
as the city from which you fled. However, at some time in the fairly
recent past it seems to have come under heavy bombardment. Most of the
original buildings have been reduced to rubble, but a few new - though by
comparison squat and utilitarian - buildings have been erected. You wonder
if this was orginally a human city which the green men have conquered, or
whether it was built by the green men and they have recently fought off a
human attack on it. The streets seem almost deserted, and you see no
vehicles, though there are a few people on riding animals.
The rope around your ankles is removed and you are taken into one of the few still relatively undamaged ancient buildings, which seems to have been turned into some sort of headquarters. You are escorted into a large room with a marble floor and rich and strange wall hangings. Sitting behind a low table is a green man who, judging by his ornate uniform, appears to be some sort of leader.
