Amy 1 paced around the beach, trying desparately to think of something to
do. But all she could do is stare at the other
woman who looked exactly like her. Before she'd fallen into this weird
place, she'd known very little about any of this
parallel universe nonsense, and all of it came from either science fiction
movies or books that her sister had mentioned.
Now, however, there was a woman lying on the ground who looked exactly
like her. This was insane. She felt like she was in
a nightmare, that she had to run away before that woman spoke because if
her voice was exactly like Amy 1's, that would mean
that she was her and that wasn't possible, but it had to be
true... She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her
parents had not been religious people, but she had taken a few sessions of
meditation to help her reduce her stress. She
closed her eyes and began to softly speak a mantra, trying to center
herself. But somehow, trying to meditate just made her
realize more how alien this place was. She felt more clearly that the
texture of reality itself felt wrong somehow. She
opened her eyes and decided to concentrate on the wild, beautiful beach
they'd washed up on. But all she could think about
was that it looked so real but it still felt strange and different.
Then, she realized that someone was walking down the beach in the distance.
