The two naked women danced what was the latest craze in Fred's homeland, a
slow dance very similar to the waltz. (Fred led, as having been a man that
was what he was used to.) This choice of dance meant that their heads were
close together, which allowed them to hold a whispered conversation
without the brownies being able to hear.
"Let's try to gradually edge over towards that tunnel on your right without their noticing," Eritrea said, shamelessly splitting an infinitive. "Then when I shout 'Go!' we'll run for it. We're so much bigger than they are that we should easily outrun them. The only risk would be of getting hit by one of their darts before we're out of range, but that would be unlucky." "But we'd be abandoning our clothes and your pack. And before we'd gone very far up the tunnel, we'd be in total darkness." "All the better for our chances of escape. I think we have to take this opportunity. I don't trust the chief. He might well have us killed anyway." So, very gradually, they edged over until they were only a short distance from the tunnel entrance.
