Into the Depths

As you look back, you see, much to your surprise, that the Voyager is resting on the ground in the valley. What was with that whole "boring and useless plot" thing that popped into your head? Probably just an hallucination. But how did you teleport into this cavern, anyway? Was it that Chaos Energy thing that the ensign was talking about? You decided that you probably really don't want to think about it too hard, for the sake of your sanity.

At any rate, you decide to go down. Being stuck in a glorified jail by characters from a TV show you never really liked doesn't appeal to you. Even less so when you take those "furries" into account--that's a bit too weird, even for you.

You start to wonder after some time walking down the staircase, though. It appears to be carved out of the stone itself, which is rough grey. The ravages of time have worn it down a bit. The stink of strange gases hangs in the air. There are odd lights on the sides of the cave, which seem to be flourescent, but they have probably gone for a very long time without running out. What is the power source here, anyway? Was it solar power, or something weirder?

Although it grows darker and colder, you keep moving down, because your curiosity is piqued. After a while, the staircase splits off into two branches, a well-lit one on the left which seems to curve and lead back up (although presumably not to the same cave you entered), and a dimly-lit one on the right that seems to go farther down.

This is a pretty simple choice:

1. Do you go left?
2. Or right?
