Actually, things go a bit hectic for a few moments and it ends up with you, a nondescript
ensign and the human Captain Janeway arrayed around the table.
"Scott." says Janeway to the ensign. "Have you spoken with the department heads?" "Yes. We are back on Earth, on our own time. No evidence of humanity is here. Voyager is non-salvagable. Even with a fully stocked shipyards we would need to requisition new warp engines. We have the Delta Flyer and two other ships up and running. Scans from the shuttles report evidence that other warp-capable races have visited Earth. Oh yes. The Doctors report that we have seven crewmembers who won't even be able to leave Sickbay for a week. We're lucky that escaped serious damage. As it is, we would have lost both doctors if they hadn't been in their emitters." "Fine." Janeways says. Then she turns to you. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" "My name is Frank Marn and I don't have any idea what I'm doing here." "Hmm." Ensign Scott says and pulls out a tricorder. He taps it and rscans it over you. "Ma'am? He's full of the same chaos energy I was once full of." "Chaos energy?" you think. "Hmm. Okay. Assign one of the replicators to reproducing the dampening material. We haven't been able to do it before but we're going to have to if he stays with us." "No offense Captain, but you're assuming I would stay with you." "It's only logical, Mr. Marn. Safety in numbers. If you do go off on your own, I'm afraid I won't be able to spare any supplies for you." "Boy, you certainly get to the point. I'll help you with things and earn my keep for as long as I do stick around but I will leave when I want to leave." "Fair enough. Ensign Scott, take Frank to deck fourteen and help with the shoring up of the port bow. We don't want it to buckle." Hours later you lean against a crate. Sweat pours off your brow. A massing minx (Seven? Who knew) swipes a rag across your face. Not only have you and Ensign Scott practically shored up deck fourteen all by yourselves, you both also helped in constructing emergency shelters, cutting dead trees that might fall on people but you also...you and Scott also had to gather up the supplies from each and every restroom on board. Your fingers still smell like Andorian spice powder. Sighing you lean back and wake up when it's dark. "Yikes!" you mumble and get to your feet. Voyager crew still went every which way, carrying supplies, carrying building materials....Ensign Scott held your elbow. "Easy now. You're not trained for long hours like this. We decided to let you sleep. Now follow me. It's getting too cold for anyone to stay around outside like this." Ensign Scott leads you to some quarters on Deck 3, the least damaged deck. "Lay down. If anything weird happens or if you need something say 'Computer: Four Alpha One'. That's about all it can handle right now. It will summon a security gaurd right away." You slip into a restless sleep. They accepted your help but still have a gaurd nearby?
