Everything was a blur. Cold...so cold. Snow everywhere...Astra couldn't
feel her feet, her nostrils were frozen shut...Velus' body...clutched to
her chest but even his heat was one and she didn't even have the energy to
let go... Voices called out. Human voices! Something draped her body. Velus barked, right in her ear but she didn't care. Her feet were lifted out and even if she was to be killed in the next few moments, it would be worth... Blackness claimed her thoughts. "And thank Offler the dog was clutched to your chest." said Anne Gables. Astra looked up from the ocean of black blankets she was in. The scientist blinked at her. "I'm sorry?" whispered Astra. The creak of the stone walls and wooden roof as they settled almost drowned out her words. "Your chest. Nipples. I knew a poor lady who lost them due to frostbite. Your dog blocked that from happening." "Velus is very nice." "Yes, he is. Intelligent, too. You just rest now. Dr. Selar said the medicine will be over-taking you soon. It's okay to sleep now, you will wake up feeling better. A healthy sleep stole over Astra. These scientists were very nice people. And they came out here to study the cold and the winter and animal life! Curiouser and curiouser, as her favorite bard used to say. Then a pleasent, healing sleep stole over them.
