Oh no! Fred thought. How could this happen? He found that he
was powerless to resist. As the process was completed, there was an
instant of total sensory deprivation, and then he found himself looking up
from Astra's supine body at the anxious faces of Fred Scissor-Hands and
Vincent.
"What happened?" Fred heard Fred Scissor-Hands ask. "The light seemed to be reflected off at an angle by something that I couldn't see. Also I thought I heard something screaming, but in my mind rather than through my ears. It sounded so terrible, that I couldn't help gasping in shock." "I don't know what happened," Vincent admitted. "I heard, or sensed, the scream too. But in spite of the light having been reflected, the procedure seems to have worked. Look, Astra's chest is rising and falling. She is breathing once again."
