After this length of time, Alura no longer noticed Velus's smell and had adjusted to his dog-like traits. Just as it looked as if the two sisters might come to blows over him, to their amazement they saw the naked figure of Fred approaching.

Astra (after eighteen months on the island not wearing a great deal more than Fred) ran over to him and embraced him. "Fred, you're alive after all!" she said, tears of joy in her eyes. "Come with me and see your beautiful baby daughter. She's asleep in our hut. It's such a shame that you weren't here for the birth. Whatever happened to you?"

  1. "Who are you?" Fred asked.
  2. "I am the King of the Fairies," Fred responded.
  3. "All right," Fred said agreeably. "But first may I introduce you to my friend Harvey? He's a six foot tall white rabbit. He's a very good conversationalist. Say 'hello' to Astra, Harvey."
