Tale of the tail

"That may be so," the man who had spoken earlier replied, "but to us it is food. Please give it to us so we may live."

Fred scratched his head thougtfully. "But I just want the tail," he pointed out. "Can't you eat the rest of the Dragon?"

"No can do," the man wheezed as he collapsed, too weak from hunger to continue. Another man took his place. "Don't you know that the tail is the only part of a Dragon that is not poisonous?"

"And the heart," another put in.

"True," the previous speaker admitted, "but eating a Dragon's heart will turn you into a Dragon, and who would want that? Just imagine how much food you would need!" Then he too collapsed and got replaced by the man who had mentioned the heart.

"So you see, Sir Knight, that you have no choice but to feed us. We are after all the King's loyal subjects."

1. Fred lets them have the tail.
2. Fred walks off with the tail.
3. Fred eats the tail himself.
4. Fred eats the Dragon's heart.
5. Fred takes the heart back to the King.
6. Fred feeds the heart to the last speaker and whoever else wants some.
7. Fred feeds the heart to the last speaker, turning him into a Dragon, then kills him and cuts off his tail. Now he has two tails. Problem solved.
8. Fred feeds the heart to the last speaker, turning him into a Dragon, then kills him and cuts off his tail. Now he has two tails. Unfortunately the hungry men want to eat both of them.
9. A butterfly flaps its wings.
