Fresh meat

Fred had found a long stick, and a length of strong twine. The spirits seemed to be helping them help themselves, rather than giving it on a plate.

"Done." Astra said, examining her work. She took the stick and twine off Fred and tied the sharp stone onto the end of the stick, creating a spear. She stood up, experimentally twirled the spear to get the feel of it, then spoke to Fred.

"You'll have to chase them towards me, OK?"

"Won't you get squashed?"

"Trust me, I've done this before."

Fred sneaked around the herd and began shouting and waving his hands. The animals didn't even notice. He got a bit closer. They still didn't notice. He poked one and it didn't notice.

Astra came up. "Come on!"

Fred took the spear from her hands and stabbed it into the side of the one he had poked, and stabbed again and again untl it was on the floor, almost dead. At that point the other antelope seemed to come out of their trance and ran away as fast as they could.

The one Fred had stabbed breathed its last breath, and died.
