With Enemies Like This, Who Needs Friends?!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 44294

Joan 2

We’d gone off blindly in pursuit . . . sure that we’d be heading somewhere only NEAR Wallants vice actually IN Wallants. Probably a clearing or something where some ally of Stryke awaits to quietly collect the flying ex-Dancer if we failed to catch up with him OR not so quietly (him/her/or it and their armed bands) if we managed to mount a pursuit (like we are actually doing).

But no! We are going right IN and OVER the very walls! And not just OVER and IN, but right . . .

. . . .

Tell me, when the Demons chose this guy Stryke were they desperate or something?!

So, in later bard’s retelling of the daring tale where the mysterious strangers went into and stole the most prized magical artifact from the most vile of Dark Mages, Stryke, will regale the audience how at the very end, in the very streets of the dark and dank shadow city of Wallants instead of an earth shatter battle that would have swallowed up the city . . . Instead of that, when the Dark Mage himself stepped forth to do battle with the heroes, a red haired elf with inky black eyes (some whisper she had to be a Dark Elf, but such is almost unheard of, Dark Elves doing good and heroic acts) simply said after placing a mysterious crystal block down in the dirt . . . . laughing.

"I don't think so," she smiles and then fades from existence!!

Leaving the Dark Mage and his cronies staring at nothing. Whisked away as if by magicks. Impossible, considering the containment wards having been set up in this trap, by some sources…

As for the Mage? Well, let me tell you, dear listeners, about the horrors and gore that happened within hours after….

Back on Terra Prime…

"With enemies like that who needs friends," I chuckle, rolling my eyes and looking back at the others. That fool Stryke had lead us RIGHT to the spot where we needed to go in order to not only exit that world, but finish off our Quest!!

Some are still yawning, but some are shaking their heads, still surprised that . . .

Well, nevermind. It’s done and I’m not complaining that we didn’t have to have yet ANOTHER stupid "final battle" against Evil. It’s nice for a change to get done with a Quest and not have to end up with having to clean up from a battle right after returning…

After handing over the sniffling infant girl who'd been named Belboz before falling afoul of magicks (re: 42699) to one of the castle servants who one of my sisters tells was looking for just such lovely little child for adoption AND giving at least a sneak peak to see how the newcomers are coming along. (Damn, of almost all those we'd spoken with, the silver skinned dancer and the bear aren't amongst them. The bear is not a surprise but if we'd only had enough time we could have . . . .).

"So who’s left to chaperon?" I ask, sighing a little bit at the thought of yet ANOTHER Validation Quest.

"There isn’t any," one of my friends, Edward Solomon, says coming up to us. "We’re done!"

  1. Thank God!! But-but now what do we do with our time?
