Velus ends up on the bottom of a large, twisty ramp. He's panting and
tired and doesn't have much energy at the moment. Soon he will walk up the
ramp and discover his destiny. But not now. Astra has ended up on a small platform. A wooden ladder, twenty feet long, hangs over a fifty foot deep ravine. The jagged, rocky walls glow with the light and the heat. Down at the bottom is lava. The gap is nineteen feet wide, leaving only six inches of support for each edge of the ladder. Fred is still being swept along. But the river had calmed down, leaving ten feet between the water surface and the ceiling. The walls were twenty feet away and utterly smooth. Waterpoof lanterns hanging from the ceiling gave a slight reassuring sign of civilization. Hopefully he would reach it before being dumped off a waterfall or something. So whose story do we stick with?
