Miranda DeSilk, Mystery Woman!

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 43761

But right now we need to finish up with Miranda DeSilk, right? Owe here a few explanations . . .

And of course there are a LOT of questions from her, some of which are . . . rather incisive, really.

This is ONE bright cookie here, much more so than what you’d normally expect from most . . . no, that’s not fair. A lot of the chicks . . . er . . . women from the James Bond movie weren’t dim, but then again . . . .

Think that if Drax was out to create a master race, then the IQ points that this one has was probably (besides good looks) the reason why she hadn’t been chucked out the airlock, despite her betrayal back down on Earth.

Yeah, can see it now! She’d contribute to the gene pool, whether she wanted to or not . . . .

. . . .

Shit, run into more than my fair share of Drax’s type (even IF this particular version is as two dimimensional as most of the other Bond movie villains) out in the Uncharted . . . .

Well, as for the woman herself? The one who insists on being called Miranda (or Ms. DeSilk) instead of "Peggie Anne"?

Let’s just say that the questions ask are very probing at some points, showing a very sharp mind inside that blonde’s skull! Also she has an air of independence that isn’t found in a LOT of Bond women, either.

Point in fact, I have a real feeling that neither she nor Bond would have gotten along at all, EVER. Pretty sure that he would have been disappointed that Miranda had rather insisted on changing into some less revealing that the outfit Drax had his female crewmembers wear . . .

. . . .

Wonder if I can get Aeryn to wear something like that . . .

. . .

Drop it, John.

She (Miranda) IS, however, taken somewhat aback by one part of my friends’ tale, those happy folks from Terra Prime. Not the stuff about elves and magic, damn oddly enough. No, despite her apparently having full working knowledge about the "modern" 20th century Earth we’d just left behind (even gets my "Who’s on First, What’s on Second" routine) she seems to have a vague . . . memory of another life. A life much like that you’d . . . probably find on a magical world like Terra Prime.

She had thought it had been a feverous dream brought on by heat exhaustion, but now she’s not so sure. Especially since in her dreams the name "D’Honaire" came up more than a few times. Something about some dweeb (not her term but the guy strikes me as one from the description) named "Jarlath" (re: 9158 , 13595, & 13762).

What kind of name is Jarlath D’Honaire? Yeah, heard the name thrown about back on B5 when I’d talked with my bra from "Season 1", over how he came about marrying both Gilina and Aeryn (!) but . . . . While I’ve never met the man I’ll be him he’s much more on the ball than the geek that Miranda described . . .

. . .

Sorry, but something about that Jarlath Miranda talked about give me the creeps . . . .

Anyway, that she’s going to be pressed into some kind of cube here in a few microts doesn’t seem to disturb her as much as the fact that there really IS some family out there with the last name "D’Honaire". Seems that she sees that it is her duty (something about honor demanding repayment for her rescue). Somehow (don’t ask me how) she seems to see that these Champions here are legit. Not frelling with her and not nuts. Legit!

Weird shit, man!

The Doctor and the others promise her that as soon as they were done and she arrives back on Terra Prime -- she’d ruled out being dropped off back on her Earth, considering despite the fact she’d had a change of heart there just MIGHT be a warrant of some type out for her arrest now – they would get her to people who could help sort herself out or whatever.

. . . .

Ooookay.

Soon enough she’s joined her fellow cubes in our growing collection and I’m fine with that.

What Elrondir says, however, puts me and Aeryn Pip out of sorts.

  1. "Betcha that she’s another transformed Fred D’Honaire," he says suddenly, right out of the blue. BAM!
