Fred and Astra Feel They Have Have No Choice

Finally Fred and Astra decided that they had no choice but to go on the
Snark's quest.
Perhaps they would get a chance to escape in the process. They could not
refuse
him outright, though, and risk him carrying out his terrible threat. "Is
the Snark really a
'he', if you
see what I mean" queried Astra. "You say he said that his beloved was
called Horace?
Perhaps the Snark is really a 'she'."
"I don't even want to think about the possible implications," said Fred
firmly. "So how did Horace get
stuck in the future, and how do we get to the future to rescue him?" asked
Astra. "The
Snark didn't say. Presumably he will explain that to us tomorrow, together
with why he
thinks the mission will be so dangerous and unpleasant that only those
left with no
choice would undertake it."
Although the bed was a very wide one, Fred, being a true gentleman, insisted that Astra should have it to herself that night, and despite her protests that she totally trusted him he slept in a chair. In the morning, the Snark returned to brief them on their quest.
